Renting safely in Bengaluru
CoFindz connects you directly with the owner or manager of each property. We don't collect rent or deposits, so every payment is between you and them. A few checks before you pay go a long way.
Before you visit
- Check the address on a map and confirm it matches the area in the listing.
- Ask who you're dealing with: the owner, or a manager running the property for them.
- Confirm the rent, deposit, maintenance, and what's included (food, electricity, Wi-Fi) over WhatsApp, so you have it in writing.
- Never send money just to get the address or to "hold" a room you haven't seen.
When you visit
- See the actual room or flat you'd be renting, not a sample one.
- Check water, power backup, and mobile signal, and look at the shared areas you'll use.
- Ask current residents how long they've stayed and how deposit refunds have gone.
- Ask about house rules (guests, timings, cooking) before you agree to anything.
Before you pay
- Read the rental agreement or PG terms before paying, especially the deposit refund and notice period.
- Pay to an account in the owner's or business's name, and get a receipt for the deposit and first month's rent.
- Be wary of anyone who asks for a large cash "processing fee", original property documents, or blank signed papers.
- Share ID documents only for a clear reason, such as police verification, which many PGs are required to do.
Something looks wrong?
Every listing has a “Report this listing” option. Use it for wrong prices, photos that don't match, a property that's no longer available, duplicate listings, or anyone asking for money in a way that doesn't feel right. Reports go straight to the CoFindz team. You can also contact us directly.
